Michelle "Meish" Claus: She is a Peace Corps Volunteer living in Rukungiri. She works at Miranda Memorial Primary School along with multiple women's groups from the villages. Her favourite activities are playing Ultimate Frisbee, bird watching, and going for hikes around the village. She has been in Uganda for over one year and enjoys eating mangos and fresh chapatti.
Mikael Nobles: She is a U.S Peace Corps Volunteer currently living in Kitgum Town where she volunteers with an organization conducting life skills within primary and secondary schools. She is originally from Missouri, a state in the middle of the U.S. In her free time, she is working with another volunteer introducing the sport of softball to primary school girls. She looks forward to meeting everyone at GLOW!
Tara Matthews: She is from California in the United States but now she stays in Kitgum District in
northern Uganda where she serves as a Health Volunteer with the Peace Corps. She enjoys working with the youth in her community and helping to build confident and strong women. In her free time she enjoys to read, cook, and
write in her journal about my daily Ugandan adventures. She is excited to share GLOW with this new group of young, inspiring women!
Sister Mary Valentine Nabbosa: Sister Valentine is from Luwero. This will be Sister Valentine’s fourth time helping to direct Camp GLOW. She is very excited to meet all the girls that are attending camp this year. Sister is currently the head teacher of St. Theresa Girls’ Primary School Kisubi. She is very passionate about girl child education. Sister loves listening to BBC to follow the world news. She always wants to know what is going on in the world.

Alana Sutter: She is from Wisconsin in the United States and lives in Mukono as a health Volunteer. One of her favorite parts about her job is working with youth
and helping them to become leaders of their country and the world!

Andrew Rowan: He was born in Arkansas but now lives in Bushenyi. He works as a health Volunteer and has been in Uganda for over two years. He likes cooking, eating, and making jokes. Andrew loves Uganda and all of the people here.

Austin Tunnel: Austin is from Houston, Texas in the United States where he worked as an accountant before moving to
Uganda. He now works as a Community Economic Development Volunteer with
Peace Corps in Lira. He loves staying in Uganda as it is such a beautiful
country. In his free time he likes reading, writing, dancing, and playing
volleyball with his Ugandan friends.
Cindy Floyd: Cindy is from Oregon in the United States, but she currently stays in Kumi District in Eastern Uganda. She is an education Volunteer with Peace Corps and teaches chemistry and computers in a secondary school. She is looking forward to working with everyone and to have a lot of fun.

Elmy Wong: Elmy is a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Bushenyi District. Girls and women in Uganda have
been very inspiring to her and she looks forward to the cultural exchange and the
opportunity to empower girls to become community leaders.
Jessica Deravil: Jessica is from New Jersey but her family is from Haiti. She now stays in Buikwe District in Central Uganda working as an education Volunteer at Sancta Maria Primary
Teacher’s College. In her free time she loves reading, listening to music, playing
tennis and traveling.

Kion Turner: Kion is from New York in the United States and now stays in Lira District in
northern Uganda where she works as an Economic Development Volunteer. She arrived in Uganda almost 4 months ago and have throughly
enjoyed her time in country! She loves meeting new people and
helping to improve the nutrition of vulnerable communities within Uganda.
In her free time she likes to read, explore new parts of Lira town, and
travel.
Lori Cleveland: Lori is from California but now stays in Hoima where she serve as a Health Volunteer with Peace Corps. She works with the nursing school and helps the
students to teach others in the schools and the community. In her free time she likes to read, listen to music, and write in her journal. She is excited to
laugh, share, learn, and have fun!
Stephanie Nelson: Stephanie is a native New Yorker from the United Sates! She presently
resides in Gulu District in northern Uganda serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer where she lectures on Computer Technology to nursing students at
St. Mary's Lacor Hospital. She enjoys working with the youth in her community and helping to build confident and strong women. In her free time she reads, cooks, watches movies, and spends time with her friends
partaking in adventures around Uganda. She is extremely excited
to serve as a staff member!!! She is confident it will be filled
with lots of fun, songs, dances, and awesomeness!
Susy Valle: Susy stay in Hoima District where she work with village savings and
loans associations, assists with basic financial literacy trainings and
spreads the word about RUMPS, Re-Usable Menstrual Pads, and AFRI-PADS,
awesome products of which GLOW girls will be learning about. She enjoys delicious avocados, papayas, beautiful birds, and wonderful Ugandan people.
Abwol Immaculate: She is from Kitgum, Uganda; however, she spent most of her upbringing in Jinja. She is an Acholi. After ‘A’ levels, she attended Crested Crane Institute to study Information Technology. She currently teaches computer classes at the Jinja Primary Teachers’ College in Wanyange. One of the lowest points in her life was when she lost her two older brothers, and her grandmother. Her family is still healing from that loss, but continues to look forward. She supplements her income from teaching with her own business of selling health, agricultural, weight loss and beauty products. She dreams one day to have a very big business, earning lots of money so that it may help her to open an orphanage.
Counsellors
Day Richards: Day is from Queens, New York but
her new home is in Mubende Town District. She serves as a Health Volunteer
working with Family Development Organization. This is her first time as a
counselor for Camp GLOW and she is super excited to promote girls empowerment. She loves interacting with the youth in her community as they keep her laughing. When she is not working or playing with the youth she is on a
quest to find the best pork joint in Uganda.
Diana Velez: For the past six months, Diana has been a secondary school teacher in Pallisa, home of the best rice crops! In
Pallisa S.S., she teaches biology and mathematics, plus works as a guidance
counselor. She is originally from Puerto Rico and went to
school in Connecticut. While at university, she studied Biology, Chemistry and Spanish. She enjoy reading, writing,
long walks and cooking. Diana looks forward to meeting the future female leaders of
Uganda!
Joey Daniels: Joey is from California and presently lives in Kitgum, Uganda. She is a US Peace Corps
Volunteer working in youth development and female empowerment. For the past two years, she has enjoyed bringing sports to the female youth of
Kitgum as well as developing their leadership potential in the communities. She very much enjoys spending time with friends and learning from new cultures
through discussions and cooking.
Joey Griego:
Kim Koevan: Kim is a
secondary education Peace Corps Volunteer serving at Mwizi Secondary
School in southwest Uganda where she teaches chemistry, biology, and
computers. She is really excited for camp and looks forward to teaching a
class on the environment. In her free time she enjoyscreading, running, cooking, and
spending time with friends.
Lantana Hoke: Lantana is from the beautiful
island state of Hawaii but now stays in Nkokonjeru in Mukono District, where she teaches primary school as a Volunteer with Peace Corps. In her free time, I enjoys reading, going for runs
with the children and dogs in the village, and playing football with the students.
Liz Jinings: Liz stays in Kyegegwa District in western Uganda! She has been here for two years and volunteers and live at an orphanage called Miryante as a Community Health Volunteer. She enjoys working with youth, both in America and in Uganda. Empowering young men and women and giving
them the tools to make healthy, safe and smart decisions is something that she is passionate about. In her free time she loves to read, watch movies, cook and hang
out with the kids at Miryante!
Liz Tran: Liz is from Mississippi in
the United States but now stays in Dokolo District in northern Uganda where she serves as a Community Economic Development Volunteer with Peace Corps. So
far, her favorite thing to do in the community is to talk and get to know
the locals. They always find it very funny that she can speak their
native tongue. She is looking forward to sharing what she knows and
learning from all the campers!
Rachel Noble: Rachel is from Indiana but now stays in Arua town in the West Nile region. She is a health Volunteer with the Peace Corps and has been in country for almost 4
months! She works a lot in the community with HIV prevention and young positives
in schools. When not at work, she likes to read, post to her blog, and ride her bike. She can't wait to spend the week at camp!
Rebecca Mol: Rebecca is from
Nebraska in the United States and lives in Mbarara District. She teaches reading and writing at a primary school. She enjoys running,
reading, and working in her garden. She is looking forward to an awesome week at camp!
Samantha Sgourakes: Sam is an
education volunteer working at a primary school in Soroti. She was a counselor at the last Camp GLOW in
Gulu and absolutely loved it. She wait to work with another group of intelligent, strong, and promising
young women.
Sami Carlson: Sami is originally from Kansas but currently lives in Insingiro District in the southwest of Uganda. She serves as an education Volunteer with the Peace Corps. In her free time she likes to hang out with her best friend, Jobin, their cat, Kevin Bacon, reading, dancing, exercising, and getting creative with her cooking. She also watches a lot of television when she has electricity. Some of her favorite things include glitter, adventures, animals, and food.
Sarah Powell: Sarah is from Pennsylvania in the
United States but now stays in Lira District in northern Uganda. She is a Health Volunteer with Peace Corps and works with an organization called African Youth
Initiative Network in Lira Town. In her free time she likes to exercise, read
and walk around town. She is looking forward to sharing this fun and exciting
week!
Taylor Dempsey: Taylor lives in New
York in America but now stays in Mityana District where she teaches science and reading at a secondary school. When she is not at
work, she reads, runs, practices yoga, digs, and visits her Peace Corps friends. Her favorite place to visit in Uganda is Lake
Bunyonyi in Kabale District. She is excited to be at National Camp GLOW
because she thinks that young, Ugandan women have so much promise and potential!
Byoruganda Rhitah: Rhitah comes from Bushenyi District where she works at the Uganda Red Cross as a volunteer and trainer in First Aid. She advocates for women emancipation and loves working and helping the youth especially in making income-generating activities. During her free time she watches movies, visits friends, cooks and at times goes shopping.
Kemigabo Natu: Natu is a 3rd year student of Bachelor of Business Administration at Uganda Christian University. She loves speaking to youth and motivating them towards education and positive living. Other likes include music making friends, being in quiet places, singing, traveling and being in close fellowship with God.
Magala Josephine: Josephine is so delighted to be a part of Camp GLOW again. She is a happily married woman expecting her first baby due in November. Don't worry though because she still has enough energy to do all that the campers can do!
Owmbabzi Eve: Eve is from Rukungiri but now stays in Buikwe District in
Central Uganda. She teaches Kiswahili at Santa Maria PTC. She enjoys playing games and
counseling students. In her free time she likes to cook, take care of her son and
visit new places, in short making new adventures!
Tushemerirwe Irene: Irene is a Ugandan from Bushenyi District where she volunteers with Uganda Red Cross. She loves working with the youth and women groups, counseling and
guiding them on life planning skills. She enjoys making new friends, reading Christian literature, visiting new places and
swimming.
